21 Economics students from the Blackpool Sixth Form returned from an action packed visit to New York this week after having experienced the landmarks and sights of the Big Apple including visits to Times Square, Ground Zero and Madison Square Garden.

Students spent a very rewarding six days in New York where they were able to apply what they had learned in their Economics course with visits to the World Finance Centre and a United Nations conference.
Students were also able to meet up with former Sixth Form student Joseph Lovell, who I currently works for a world-leading financial services company. Joseph, who graduated from the Sixth Form in 1998, was able to talk to students about his experiences since leaving the Sixth Form and of the economy. Joseph shared common ground with several of the students being a former student of Collegiate High School.
The visit also included watching a live basketball game at Madison Square Garden. The New York Knicks defeated the Denver Nuggets by only 5 points in an exciting game.
There were also the opportunities to visit Staten Island and Ground Zero - the World Trade Centre Memorial Exhibit, to experience a night tour of downtown Manhatten and Brooklyn and for shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch, Macy's and Saks on 5th Avenue.
