International Award for Blackpool Sixth Form
The Blackpool Sixth Form College has received a government award for providing an international dimension to students' education.
The award acknowledges the College's work in "developing internationalism" through its teaching, overseas visits and exchanges. The College runs a very full programme of international visits. In the past year groups of students from different subject areas have visited France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the United States.
The College has partner schools in France, Germany and Turkey. It is accredited as "a world school", offering the prestigious International Baccalaureate programme which has foreign language learning as a key component.

The College is itself a truly international community with students coming from countries all over Europe and other parts of the world to study. International Co-ordinator, Phillip Benson, commented, "This award is great news for the College and shows just important we feel it is that our students learn about other countries and cultures. This will help them in our increasingly interconnected world."
